I am a registered psychologist in Melbourne, Australia, and hold a doctorate in counselling psychology. My doctoral thesis looked at how psychological therapy can facilitate narratives of recovery for those with enduring or recurrent depression. Since then, I have been passionate about helping people re-story their lives and discover new insights and purpose.
WHO I WORK WITH: ADULTS, TEENS & COUPLES
I work with adults & teenagers, as well as couples, across a range of concerns. I tend to work well with those who are:
wanting in-depth therapy that looks at recurring themes and patterns in one’s life, relationships and experiences
experiencing depression or anxiety, including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, and OCD
struggling with low self-worth, or searching for a sense of identity
couples going through conflict, communication difficulties, parenting challenges, or difficulties arising due to mental health problems
struggling with the effects of trauma, loss or grief
struggling with diabetes or other chronic health problems
HOW I WORK
My therapeutic approach is integrative. I tailor therapy according to the person or couple’s needs and preferences. I am mainly influenced by Existential, Experiential and Psychodynamic frameworks.
My hope for therapy is that it promotes understanding, self-expression, and acceptance.
I use additional therapeutic modalities I have been trained in, as needed. These include:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy,
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),
Compassion-Focused and mindfulness-based therapies,
Schema Therapy,
Gottman’s Method,
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: I have over a decade of experience in a combination of therapeutic and academic roles. I have worked as a counsellor and psychologist in private practices, fertility clinics, schools, bushfire-affected areas of Victoria and community mental health hubs.
I currently hold a university position as a lecturer teaching counselling at postgraduate level. My research has been published in psychological journals.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: My upbringing in Australia within an Indian migrant family, and being a woman of colour, have, I feel, strengthened my capacity to connect with people from marginalised backgrounds and people who struggle with a sense of belonging. I am an LGBTQ+ ally.
